My New Friend
My new best friend is a little javascript library
What an eye opening week it has been
I have been playing around with JQuery http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JQuery alot
if you don't know what JQuery is it is an Javascript Library that can turn a few lines of javascript into a elegant slide show and there are tons of plugins for it
I have been using a few good ones
- JQDock http://www.wizzud.com/jqDock/ that makes a grouping of images look like OSX dock menu
- JQuery cycle http://malsup.com/jquery/cycle/ that does a slideshow of images and allows for around 15 different types of transitions
- and one that I found on AListapart http://alistapart.com/article/sprites2 on the new way to do Sprite Navigation
We had previously done some work with JQuery but one of the big recent developments that brought JQuery mainstream for me was the fact the Google recently started hosting JQuery which I whole heartedly embrace. When you get over the concept that Google is going to track your movement and see the benefit of having JQuery cached on every user’s computer. I think the saved load times easily outweigh the big brother aspect.
