As of yesterday August 10th, two social networking sites have come together. Facebook has acquired Friendfeed. Bret Taylor, a FriendFeed co-founder stated, “Facebook and FriendFeed share a common vision of giving people tools to share and connect with their friends".
Friendfeed cost a whopping 47.5 million dollars for Facebook to purchase. Facebook used many of Friendfeeds features when they began, such as the "Like" feature and real-time updates. Although Friendfeed has actual real-time updates, Facebook users have to refresh the page; hopefully Facebook will fix this feature in the near future.
Facebook will keep Friendfeeds' employees, such as the creator of Gmail, Paul Buchheit. As of now all Friendfeed accounts will remain the same until long-term plans have been made.
